LokLok is a unique lock screen application that facilitates interactive and shared screen experiences.

Overview

LokLok is an innovative lock screen app that not only permits users to draw on their lock screens but also enables automatic sharing of these screens with their social circles. The central concept of LokLok revolves around multiple users sharing a common lock screen, which can be customized as per their preference. The lock screen is synchronized among all users within the same group, and any changes made to the lock screen by any member of the group are reflected across all devices.

Specific Features

In the current version of LokLok, users can draw or erase on the lock screen using their fingertips. The app provides various tools, such as brushes, erasers, and pencils, which can be used to create shared artistic expressions. Users can also adjust the sizes of these tools and choose from a variety of colors to enhance their artwork.

Image Uploads

Another notable feature of LokLok is the ability to upload images from the device onto the lock screen. These images can serve as the background for further drawing or can simply be displayed as they are, offering the users complete control over the aesthetics of their lock screen.

Unique Customization Tool

LokLok stands out as a fun and engaging customization tool for Android devices. The app transforms a typically static aspect of the device into an interactive and collaborative platform. Once a group of friends begins using LokLok, the creative possibilities become limitless, providing an innovative way to communicate and express through the lock screen.

Pros

  • Enables shared, synchronized lock screens among a group of users
  • Offers various drawing tools, colors, and sizes for creative expression
  • Allows image uploads from the device for background customization
  • Transforms lock screen into an interactive platform

Cons

  • Changes to the lock screen are reflected across all devices in the group, which may not always be desirable
  • Limited to Android devices

General performance improvements

Potentially dangerous permissions

  • ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION: Allows an app to access approximate location. Alternatively, you might want ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION.
  • CAMERA: Required to be able to access the camera device.
  • GET_ACCOUNTS: Allows access to the list of accounts in the Accounts Service.
  • READ_CONTACTS: Allows an application to read the user's contacts data.
  • READ_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Allows an application to read from external storage.
  • READ_PHONE_STATE: Allows read only access to phone state, including the phone number of the device, current cellular network information, the status of any ongoing calls, and a list of any PhoneAccounts registered on the device.
  • WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE: Allows an application to write to external storage.

Other permissions

  • ACCESS_NETWORK_STATE: Allows applications to access information about networks.
  • ACCESS_WIFI_STATE: Allows applications to access information about Wi-Fi networks.
  • DISABLE_KEYGUARD: Allows applications to disable the keyguard if it is not secure.
  • GET_TASKS: This constant was deprecated in API level 21. No longer enforced.
  • INTERNET: Allows applications to open network sockets.
  • RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED: Allows an application to receive the ACTION_BOOT_COMPLETED that is broadcast after the system finishes booting. If you don't request this permission, you will not receive the broadcast at that time. Though holding this permission does not have any security implications, it can have a negative impact on the user experience by increasing the amount of time it takes the system to start and allowing applications to have themselves running without the user being aware of them. As such, you must explicitly declare your use of this facility to make that visible to the user.
  • SYSTEM_ALERT_WINDOW: Allows an app to create windows using the type TYPE_SYSTEM_ALERT, shown on top of all other apps. Very few apps should use this permission; these windows are intended for system-level interaction with the user.
  • VIBRATE: Allows access to the vibrator.
  • WAKE_LOCK: Allows using PowerManager WakeLocks to keep processor from sleeping or screen from dimming.
  • WRITE_SETTINGS: Allows an application to read or write the system settings.
  • android.permission.FLAG_SHOW_WHEN_LOCKED
  • android.permission.MANAGE_ACCOUNTS
  • android.permission.SYSTEM_OVERLAY_WINDOW
  • android.permission.USE_CREDENTIALS
  • co.loklok.permission.C2D_MESSAGE
  • co.loklok.permission.RECEIVE_ADM_MESSAGE
  • co.loklok.permission.UA_DATA
  • com.amazon.device.messaging.permission.RECEIVE
  • com.android.vending.BILLING
  • com.google.android.c2dm.permission.RECEIVE
